The Effects Of Excessive Unhealthy Food Intake - 1327 Words
One of Americaââ¬â¢s top leading problems in the 21st century is caused by vast amounts of unhealthy food which leads to not only obesity, but other health related issues such as diabetes and other heart conditions. There are many fingers to be pointed at who to blame for this problem, whether it be governmentââ¬â¢s fault or just personal responsibility. Most of the problems faced by the United States, such as obesity and diabetes, are the consequences of excessive unhealthy food intake. So many people in todayââ¬â¢s society settle for the easiest and quickest way to get food, and usually end up at a fast food restaurant. Fast food is ridiculously cheap and easy to get. Little do they know, the food they are consuming is full of saturated fats, salts, and sugars which is very unhealthy. Fast food chains are known for their appeal to teenagers and kids, the risk of making children sick and unhealthy, and how it is easy to afford the cheap food they offer. Fast food chains such as McDonaldââ¬â¢s and Burger King can be very appealing to children and teenagers in the 21st century. Both McDonaldââ¬â¢s and Burger King both have a ââ¬Å"mascotâ⬠so to speak; a clown and a king. In advertisements by both companies, both mascots are urging consumers to buy their product because that is what they do. If the ââ¬Ëcoolââ¬â¢ mascot does it, then nothing else matters. The Importance of Macbeth in Modern Society Free Essays
The importance of continuing to read Macbeth in our modern society is to educate readers on valuable lessons in life. The significance of gaining power appropriately, the fact that there are consequences for every action and the importance of justice are a few of the many life lessons that are relevant in Shakespeareââ¬â¢s tragedy, Macbeth. Primarily, Macbeth, the main character, is influenced by his wife and subsequently has a great desire to be King of Scotland. We will write a custom essay sample on The Importance of Macbeth in Modern Society or any similar topic only for you Order Now Macbeth is presently the Thane of Glamis, as well as an army general of the current King, Duncan. When Duncan is in Inverness, he decides to stay at the home of the Macbeths. Lady Macbeth eagerly devises a plot to murder Duncan, thus ensuring her husbandââ¬â¢s place on the throne of Scotland. Although Macbeth raises concerns about the regicide, he is eventually persuaded by his wife to follow her plan. ââ¬Å" Stars, hide your fires! Let not light see my black and deep desires; the eye wink at the hand; yet let that be which the eye fears, when it is done, to see â⬠(I. iv. 50-53). Macbeth knows that he must do wrong to achieve his goal, but plans to kill anyone in the way if he must. The method in which Macbeth chooses to use to gain power is neither civilized, nor humane. This extremity is perhaps hinting to the reader that Macbethââ¬â¢s actions were wrong, as well as showing the extremes one may go through to get what they desire. The witchesââ¬â¢ apparitions given to Macbeth and friend, Banquo, at the beginning of the plot play a monumental role in the thoughts of both men. Macbeth is told that he will be king, though Banquoââ¬â¢s sons will be kings as well. ââ¬Å"As the weird woman promisââ¬â¢d; and, I fear, thou playââ¬â¢dst most foully forââ¬â¢t; yet it was said it should not stand in thy posterity, but that myself should be the root and father of many kingsâ⬠(III.à I. 2-6). Banquo explains that he will father all kings to come, and that Macbeth will not be king for a long period of time. This apparition challenges the friendship between Macbeth and Banquo. Macbeth is not afraid to show his jealousy when saying, ââ¬Å"Upon my head they placââ¬â¢d a fruitless crown, and put a barren sceptre in my gripe, thence to be wrencââ¬â¢d with an unlineal hand, no son of mine succeeding (III. I. 61-64). â⬠Uneasy about the prophecy, Macbeth plans to kill Banquo and his son, Fleance, so that the premonition will not occur. Macbeth hires two men to murder Banquo and Fleance, but they only accomplished to kill Banquo, and Fleance is able to escape. The actions of Macbeth had consequences, as most actions do in present day. At the time of the murder, Macbeth does not think of the cost of his deeds. His self-interest and desire for the throne of Scotland drives him to finish the act. ââ¬Å" Methought I heard a voice cry ââ¬ËSleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleepâ⬠(II. ii. 35-36). Macbeth achieves power, but due to guilt, he cannot sleep and starts to drive himself mad. Macbeth was not the only person who was suffering from guilt. Lady Macbeth shows her agony when sleepwalking and talking to herself, ââ¬Å"Out, damned spot! Out, I say! One; two: why, then ââ¬Ëtis time to doââ¬â¢t. Hell is murky! Fie, my lord-fie! A soldier, and afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account? â⬠(IV. I. 34-37) Lady Macbeth frantically tries to wash her hands, but the reality is that there is nothing on them. It is evident that she is feeling guilty for her actions and because of it, she is going mad. Insanity and loss of sleep are only minute consequences, but play an immense role in the development of the characters throughout the play. Lastly, Macbeth achieves justice and what he deserved at the end of the play when Macduff beheads him. Macbeth and Macduff battle, sword for sword, but Macbeth boasts that he has no reason to fear Macduff, because of his belief in the witchesââ¬â¢ prophesy. ââ¬Å" Be bloody, bold, and resolute; laugh to scorn The power of man; for none of woman born Shall harm Macbethâ⬠(IV. i. 86-87). This apparition informs Macbeth that he cannot be killed by any man ââ¬Å"of woman bornâ⬠(IV. i. 86-87). Macduff declares that he was ââ¬Å"from his motherââ¬â¢s womb untimely rippââ¬â¢dâ⬠which means that he was born by Caesarean section, and was therefore not ââ¬Å"bornâ⬠of a woman. The lesson to be learned is to not become a victim of peer pressure, and not to believe everything said. In conclusion, the importance of continuing to read Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Macbeth in our modern society is to educate readers about human behaviour on many valuable lessons in life. Whether the play teaches readers about gaining power appropriately, the fact that there are consequences for every action, or the importance of justice, it proves that they are important to learn. United States Postal Service Synthesis Paper Essay Sample free essay sample
If I were the current Chief executive officer for the United States Postal Service. I would be soberly concerned about the hereafter of my concern. as it has late taken a steep plumb bob from its success and popularity in the 19th and twentieth centuries. The USPS is now faced with the determination to restitute itself due to the utmost loss of concern as engineering takes over the twenty-first Century. Some say that the USPS should be wholly reconstructed because the concern is merely headed farther downhill. while others say that paper mail is still really practical. more so than electronic mail. and we must each compose more letters to make our portion in resuscitating the concern to profitableness once more. Because the USPS has been such a critical portion of our state through its part to communicating and employment. the organisation needs to remain afloat by cutting back on bringing yearss. We will write a custom essay sample on United States Postal Service Synthesis Paper Essay Sample or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page strategically rebranching throughout the state. and recapturing the importance of itself through advertisement. in order to accommodate to the new technology-based epoch. The uninterrupted loss of gross for the USPS can be alleviated by merely extinguishing two or three mail bringing yearss every hebdomad. The concern sunk like the Titanic merely three old ages ago. when ââ¬Å"the Postal Service experienced a 13 per centum bead in mail volumeâ⬠¦ more than double any old worsening and lost $ 3. 8 billionâ⬠( Source C ) . Unfortunately. the job is merely predicted to deteriorate with even ââ¬Å"steeper beads in mail volume and revenueâ⬠expected in the following decennary ( Source C ) . Some experts disagree. and argue that increasing service is the reply. Selling professor Richard Honack advises. ââ¬Å"donââ¬â¢t bead from six- to five-day bringing ; travel the other wayâ⬠( Source A ) . On the other manus. Source F argues that ââ¬Å"eliminating Saturday mail bringing would salvage $ 40 billion over a decennary. â⬠whereas Honack states no warrants in money addition or nest eggs. Having mail delivered four or five yearss a hebdomad is a necessary solution for the USPS. in a clip where gross loss continues to worsen. The USPS must cut down on employment and bringing costs by re-evaluating its location scheme and rebranching. Particularly in urban metropoliss bombinating with the latest engineering. many would hold that. ââ¬Å"you donââ¬â¢t necessitate a full-service station office every few blocks in New York. for exampleâ⬠( Source A ) . In add-on. I spend every summer with my pa in Chicago. and because there is a USPS station office right around the corner of our flat edifice. I have noticed from go throughing it every twenty-four hours that it is the one shop on State Street that is empty 90 per centum of the clip. In my experience. Postmaster General John Potter is right in desiring to ââ¬Å"close and consolidate 154 station officesâ⬠. significantly cut downing runing costs and employment. Strategy is cardinal ; by closing down the offices with the lowest production and necessity. USPS will no longer be uselessly passing money. Another point the USPS should take into considera tion when restructuring. is that it is excessively easy for most Americans nowadays to bury the significance of a manus written missive or card. when we can pass on within seconds through engineering. Come to believe of it. I remember running to the letter box in exhilaration every November to roll up a particular. tap birthday card from my grandmother with her mussy longhand scrawled across the envelope. Now. my ââ¬Å"specialâ⬠birthday wants are in a 30 2nd voice mail she leaves from her cell phone every twelvemonth. The USPS must remind us of the important difference it can do in communicating by recapturing its emotional importance through advertisement. Though the USPS has been around for over 200 old ages. ââ¬Å"no one knows what the Postal Service stands forâ⬠( Source A ) . Making a new motto that emotionally connects to todayââ¬â¢s universe of digital indigens. and represents the intent of USPS. will promote consumers to back up the company. Futurist Watts Wacker agrees. ââ¬Å"A companyââ¬â¢s trade name is its most valuable tool or its biggest liabilityâ⬠. and with a new logo and motto. America will be reminded that ââ¬Å"an antique. manus written missive has value in this speed-obsessed worldâ⬠( Source F ) . The USPS must take advantage of how engineering has transformed America. and entreaty to the bosom alternatively of the clock or billfold. Despite the dramatic ruin USPS has taken as the twenty-first Century makes its manner hand-in-hand with engineering. the company can still continue itself if it cuts back on service and use the right location and selling schemes. The USPS offers many advantages for the mean client. as it is cheaper than its rivals. provides 100s of 1000s of occupations across the state. and allows communicating for those who may non hold entree to the cyberspace or other engineering. The USPS must retrace itself to run into the demands of todayââ¬â¢s society. It has ever been a important portion of our state in the yesteryear. and it still can be for old ages to come.

Hitlers Appeal essays
Hitlers Appeal essays The unemployment in Germany from 1928 to 1932 was devastating to the nations economy. Reasons are varied but all are contributing factors. Unemployment soared, it grew 3 1/2 times in just five years. The treaty of Versailles was to blame, as it took away much land, where many natural resources were obtained. Also was the disarmament, which caused much job cuts, as no more weapons were being made. The Jewish were blamed for the bankruptcies and inflation because they were in charge of many financial institutions. Hitler proclaimed that they somehow tampered with the banking system to promote their own financial needs. All allegations were false; they were only used to help Hitler in his political race to rule the country, and eventually the world. Hitler made these speeches to make German residents think that all the other countries blamed them and their allies for the war. Hitler made their country sound strong, but also capable of doing a lot because of the quarantine imposed on them. Germans were gaining a false sense of pride and hope for the future from Hitler. Germans were feeling anger towards the nations forcing the treaty of Versailles against them because of many things. One, Loss of German territory, overseas and much of their own connected land. Payments of reparations were severe, especially because of their economic state of depression. Germany was also ordered disarmament, which only lowered their defense and decreased employment. Germany and their Allies were blamed for the war, even though Germany was under a new government, their old leaders also took responsibility for all losses. Their old national leaders and their allies, who were overthrown, signed the treaty. The new government had to assume responsibility. Citizens of Germany seemed to love Hitler; he represented hope for a new country, a strong country. A country whose power would be dominant over all other countries. Here was a man who could brin ...

How to update your LinkedIn profile for 2018
How to update your LinkedIn profile for 2018 Whether youââ¬â¢re planning a full-scale job search in 2018 or just thinking about your next steps, career-wise, itââ¬â¢s time to do some prep work in your LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn is one of the first places potential employers scope you out and it can be a recruiting tool as well, so you want to make sure youââ¬â¢re getting the most out of your profile. Update your headline and summary.Your headline and summary are the first things that will be read when a recruiter or potential employer sees your name in a search. That means these have to be on point. You donââ¬â¢t need to fit in all of your qualifications- focus on the ones that you want to feature most prominently. Here are some examples of clear, no-nonsense headlines:Top-Performing Sales Associate2018 Accounting Grad Seeking Entry-Level OpportunityInnovative Graphic DesignerIf you already have a job and will be searching on the DL, make sure your headline doesnââ¬â¢t announce too obviously what youââ¬â¢re up to- remember, your headline will show up in public searches and you never know whoââ¬â¢s looking. If youââ¬â¢ll be subtly looking for new jobs, make your headline describe what you do or how you want to be perceived (professionally).Your summary should be more of a narrative of where you are in your career, your best professional attributes, and your biggest accomplishments. To make your summary section 2018-ready, include your most recent projects, achievements, and lessons learned. That means ones from the past year or so, so that youââ¬â¢re including the latest and best information. Itââ¬â¢s okay to take out information that feels outdated or is more than a few years old if the summary is getting a little long. The length is at your discretion, but keep in mind that recruiters and hiring managers may have little time to read and donââ¬â¢t want to get bogged down by a full-on memoir while theyââ¬â¢re browsing LinkedIn.Update your photo. If your current LinkedIn h eadshot is that one of you as an eager new grad 10 years ago, itââ¬â¢s time to upgrade. No need to get glamorous Hollywood-grade headshots. These days, anyone with a solid smartphone camera can take a solid photo of your face that you can use as a professional avatar photo. It should be a fairly natural, friendly solo photo- you donââ¬â¢t want it to look like a passport photo or, worse, a mug shot. Candid photos are fine as long as you look professionally appropriate. If youââ¬â¢re having trouble figuring out if a photo is appropriate, take a look around at other profiles in your field, around your level, and see what people are using.Open up your availability. One of the easiest and best ways to leverage your LinkedIn profile to help create opportunities for yourself is to update your privacy settings. In your Account settings, click on ââ¬Å"Job Seeking,â⬠click on ââ¬Å"Let recruiters know youââ¬â¢re open to opportunities.â⬠This is what opens up LinkedIn f rom ââ¬Å"living resumeâ⬠to ââ¬Å"next-level job search tool.â⬠It doesnââ¬â¢t replace the need to go out and search for job openings or proactively send out your resume, but it increases the chances that someone will find you (the needle) in the database (the haystack) for a potentially great job opportunity.Itââ¬â¢s a way of letting the recruiters and hiring managers of the world know that youââ¬â¢re available, without putting up a big, honking neon sign (visible to, say, your boss) that youââ¬â¢re looking to leave your current job. It flags your availability behind the scenes.Update your key words.Given that youââ¬â¢ve opened up your profile to recruiters and potential employers, you need to make sure that youââ¬â¢re giving them what theyââ¬â¢re searching for in 2018. That means updating your skills, job history, and summary with the words that are important in your industry now- not three years ago. This step is especially key if youââ¬â¢ve h ad a profile that has kind of languished, un-updated since you got your current job.So how do you figure out what key words to use? Search for current job postings in your field. What kind of skills are they emphasizing? What qualities are they seeking in candidates? Once you know what companies are looking for right now, you can work that language in to your profile and increase the chances of a) matching their search criteria and b) holding interest once someone clicks through to your page.Refresh your profile content. The hardest part of making your LinkedIn profile ready for 2018 is keeping up with it after youââ¬â¢ve made the initial updates and changes. Some of the information you put in is going to stay static for a while, especially after youââ¬â¢ve updated your projects and skills from 2017. That means you should turn your attention to live content on your profile page. This is basically a blog where youââ¬â¢re able to write what you want. Itââ¬â¢s not a personal blog- it should be entirely focused on your field and your professional life. If you donââ¬â¢t feel comfortable waxing on for 500 words about your career philosophies, you can share links to articles by others in your field or offer commentary on trends. How-to posts are also very popular, if you have a particular skill or area in which you can teach others.According to OKDork, the most successful LinkedIn content posts:Have a headline of fewer than 50 characters.Contain pictures, but not videos or other multimedia, to avoid awkward device and readability issues. Are divided into separate headings for ease of reading.Include lists or how-to tutorials. Are substantial (approximately 1000-2000 words). Are not controversial. Are readable for a broad audience (like the lay person who doesnââ¬â¢t know much about your field, as well as someone who already works in your field). And as youââ¬â¢re thinking about what you want to write and share on your LinkedIn profile, remember: always keep it professional. Youââ¬â¢re presenting your best career self, so donââ¬â¢t derail that by airing your political grievances, or responding in kind to negative comments. And I assume we all know this already, but just in case- no smack talk about people in your industry. If you disagree with someone, and want to talk about it publicly on LinkedIn, do it politely and respectfully.Another key step is editing and proofreading your content before it goes live- you want to make sure you sound intelligent and put-together, and nothing derails that quite as quickly as five typos in the first paragraph alone.Set a LinkedIn update schedule. At the beginning of the year, set reminders for yourself to update your profile so that youââ¬â¢re keeping it as fresh as possible. Consistency is the key to a well-maintained LinkedIn profile, and it shows youââ¬â¢re engaged. If you go on a hot streak, posting stuff for a month, and then a recruiter sees that you havenââ¬â¢t bothered fo r the past three months after that, it looks like youââ¬â¢ve abandoned your page. Reminders and a schedule (say, monthly) for posting new content (and updating your existing skills and projects) will help ensure an active, consistent vibe for your page.If youââ¬â¢ve been a more casual user of LinkedIn, or you just havenââ¬â¢t spent much time updating your info, this is a relatively easy way to help set up your 2018, career-wise. Even if youââ¬â¢re not sure whether youââ¬â¢ll be looking for a job, youââ¬â¢re getting ready for ââ¬Å"just in case,â⬠and saving yourself valuable time and energy if you find yourself needing to start a job hunt on short notice. Itââ¬â¢s also a handy tool for keeping track of information youââ¬â¢ll need to set your professional goals or if you need to come up with a snapshot of your achievements and skills for a promotion or self-review. Updating your LinkedIn profile is a great way to get organized for the coming year.

Industrial Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Industrial - Assignment Example The root level meaning of culture is to nurture and cultivate. Values and beliefs to certain extent cannot be differentiated since they are internal to an individual. Beliefs and values are most integral component within an individual that governs their overall behaviour. Values basically includes analyzing what is wrong or right and staying truthful to others. This factor greatly influences attitude and behaviour of a person. There are certain common values for business such as community involvement, innovation and fairness. Beliefs and values are in-built within an individual and this drives their overall culture. Values can also be incorporated by getting influenced by a social group. Every individual possesses a set of values and beliefs which one follows for life-long. Organizational culture, values and beliefs play a significant role in terms of building a corporate image. Culture clearly reflects the execution of business operations in an organization (Boxall and Purcell, 2003 ). Organizational value helps to structure set of behaviours which is shared amongst all team members. This aspect distinguishes one organization from others. Values not only enhance commercial value but even enable workforce importance in a firm. For instance, some companies are focused on achieving high performance standards and some are aligned with developing a participative work culture. Hence values are different in both these organizations and this creates different corporate images. This can be observed in real world scenario where some firms are regarded as high performance workplace and some companies are denoted as following appropriate work culture in terms of employee motivation or level of job satisfaction. Britain and the empire The Great Irish Famine Essay
Britain and the empire The Great Irish Famine - Essay Example This essay will focus on Christine Kinealyââ¬â¢s findings on the famine, mostly related to the relationship of Britain and Ireland during the years of the famine including relationship of the famine with churches, with monarchy, and the nationalist movement. Ever since the famine occurred in 1845, there have been a number of books and literature works published on it, yet the work of Kinealy has taken the famine literature to another level. Kinealy uses many sources and research materials that were otherwise not used to evaluate the famine. With these sources, she demonstrated another aspect of the famine with the relationship of Ireland and Britain during the famine. She focused on the role of the government and also on the importance of saving lives through private charity. Another aspect which Kinealy focuses on is the food supply which no one had ever discussed before. She talked about how Ireland produced enough food even after the potato blight. It was her work which gave a new vision to the impact of the famine and the aspects which were given least attention. The book is an evaluation of Kinealyââ¬â¢s survey A Death Dealing Famine which she conducted in 1997. Her intention towards this book was not to give a general history, but to examine the famine through the number of different contexts and through her narrative. On her research of different contexts, there is new material presented on charity, memory, and the religious response. The interpretation of Kinealy is identical to the controversial claim in 1997 that Ireland had in reality not suffered with deficit of food and the famine was artificial. Kinealy carried out a lot of research on the famine and chose to write about her ideology. Her book was highly criticized as it gave a different yet true picture of the Irish famine after about 50 years of misinterpretation. Her view and research actually
